For any Wainwright baggers this is a great route! The planned route has 11 Wainwrights included, and if we are going well, it is possible to add a 12th!
Wainwrights: Grisedale Pike – Hopegill Head – Whiteside – Grasmoor – Wandope – Eel Crag – Sail – Scar Crags – Causey Pike – Outerside – Barrow
Route: Starting in Braithwaite near Keswick we take on one of the Lake Districts Classic rounds. The walk starts with a long and steep climb of Grisedale Pike, but the views over Keswick to Skiddaw and surrounding mountains make the climb worthwhile. Once at the summit we then follow a ridge round to Hopegill Head, which is much gentler than the first climb. Via a great little ridge, we climb to Whiteside. Retracing our steps, we climb back over Hopegill Head and descend, before again climbing again up to Grasmoor are highest point of the day, we then descend and climb via Wandope, Crag Hill (Eel Crag). Via a rock ridge we then move onto Sail, before we descend a famous zig zag path on our way to Causey Pike. Finally, we climb Outerside and Barrow and have a great grassy descent back into Braithwaite.
